    The Spring/Summer 2023 Denim Trends and Denim Nail Designs

    It's great to see that denim is back in fashion more than ever and having its moment this spring / summer. Growing up in Korea, Levi's jeans were a big part of my youth. Most friends who came to visit Korea from the US brought Levi's Jeans as a gift, and it was always recognized as the best gift to receive.  Wearing something with a made-in-USA label was like wearing an exclusive brand, conferring the status of privilege and stylishness. Calvin Klein jeans followed Levis as the cool kid on the block, and offered an elegant twist on the vaunted fashion brand's status.

    Blue jeans have evolved so much, from styles to finishes and everyday wear, to iconoclastic fashion statements, and they are the true gender-less attire. The jeans I wore in my youth were only one style; straight-leg shaped and simple stone washed, so I had to repeatedly wash them to create a worn out appearance in my mission of achieving a cool, hip look.
     
    Now there are many varied styles that denim lovers can enjoy, as we're seeing during this Spring/Summer 2023 season: Wide, relaxed jeans at Chole, Y2K sandblast wash at Givenchy, denim maxi skirts at Tibi and Gani, low-rise jeans from Bottega Veneta, Jacquemus and Dior, to name a few.
     
    Denim is timeless, easy to pair styling with, and is a closet essential – I am sure most people have a couple of pairs of blue jeans in their closets. They can be high fashion, hip, grunge, edgy and every day casual – any style can be done with denim; you name it. 
     
    One of the nail polishes I recently created, JINsoon Sea Clay, has been extraordinarily popular, I believe, because of its relevance to the denim blue (blue jeans) trend. Team JINsoon created some blue jean themed nails based on the finishes and colors of denim.

    2. Apply one coat of JINsoon Power Coat base coat .
    3. Apply two coats of JINsoon Sea Clay.

    1. Clean, prep nails and shape nails using a JINsoon High Performance Diamond Nail File to the desired shape.
    2. Apply one coat of JINsoon Power Coat base coat .
    3. Apply two coats of JINsoon Peace.
    4. Apply JINsoon Matte Make matte Top Coat for a satin finish or Top Gloss for a glossy look.    
     

    JINsoon Beau + Absolute White for a classic stone washed look

    1. Clean, prep nails and shape nails using a JINsoon High Performance Diamond Nail File to the desired shape.
    2. Apply one coat of JINsoon Power Coat base coat. 
    3. Apply a coat of JINsoon Beau.
    4. Apply one coat of JINsoon Power Coat base coat.
    5. Apply a coat of JINsoon Beau.
    6. Pour a drop of JINsoon Kookie White on a piece of foil and dab a small sponge on it until it is a bit dry, then gently dab it on the nails to create a distressed effect. 
    7. Apply JINsoon Matte Make matte Top Coat for a satin finish or Top Gloss for a glossy look.
    Tip: Matte finish resembles the finish of distressed jeans so the key point is to use JINsoon Matte Maker matte top coat after dabbing to create the distressed effect.

    1. Clean, prep nails and shape nails using a JINsoon High Performance Diamond Nail File to the desired shape.
    2. Apply one coat of JINsoon Power Coat base coat.
    3. Apply two coats of JINsoon Cool Blue.
    4. Pour a drop of JINsoon Kookie White on a piece of foil and dab a small sponge on it until it is a bit dry, then gently dab it on the nails to create the distressed effect.
    5. Apply JINsoon Matte Make matte Top Coat for a satin finish or Top Gloss for or glossy look.

    1. Clean, prep nails and shape nails using a JINsoon High Performance Diamond Nail File to the desired shape.
    2. Apply one coat of JINsoon Power Coat base coat. 
    3. Apply two coats of JINsoon Sea Clay.
    4. Apply one coat of JINsoon Power Coat base coat. 
    5. Apply two coats of JINsoon Sea Clay.
    6. Pour a drop of JINsoon Kookie White on a piece of foil and dab a small sponge on it until it is a bit dry, then gently dab it on the nails to create the distressed effect.
    7. Apply JINsoon Matte Make matte Top Coat for a satin finish or Top Gloss for a glossy look.

    1. Clean, prep nails and shape nails using a JINsoon High Performance Diamond Nail File to the desired shape.
    2. Apply one coat of JINsoon Power Coat base coat.
    3. Apply two coats of JINsoon Beau.
    4. Apply JINsoon Matte Make matte Top Coat for a satin finish or Top Gloss for a glossy look. 

    Popular styles of denim  

    Low-rise jeans / mid-rise jeans / high waist jeans

    So many fashion houses like Bottega Veneta, Jacquemus, Toteme and Dior have cool takes on low-rise to high waist jeans, playing with length, finishes and styles, from straight-leg to wide leg, in their Spring/Summer 2023 Collections.

    Wide Leg Jeans 

    Wide leg jeans are having a moment and I especially love the fact that some interesting flair was added to this style. They have been so popular among influencers and fashionistas because they can be the most stylish among the jean genre. Khaite's Kerry Jeans are right on the spot, casting a unique silhouette, as do Citizens of Humanity Horseshoe Jeans, which are super cool.

    Denim Maxi Skirts 

    Spotted in the S/S23 collections of brands such as Tibi and Brandon Maxwell, that range from minimalism to grunge. My favorite one is Bella Hadid in an extra-long denim iteration by Givenchy. 

    Oversized Denim Jacket / Blazer

    With a denim jacket or blazer, we see the denim on denim trend at its best, and I love the style of tibi Bleached Denim Liam Blazer that is a hint of light pastel blue in such a great interpretation of Spring. Also, the oversized classic denim jacket Gigi Hadid wore on the Givenchy runway was just exquisite!
