A Facial for Your Hands — Rooted in Korean Rituals, Reimagined by JINsoon

JINsoon Camellia Glow Renewing Peeling Balm

When we think about skincare, we often stop at the face. But at JINsoon, we believe hands deserve the same care, attention, and glow. That’s why we created the Camellia Glow Renewing Peeling Balm — a first-of-its-kind exfoliating balm designed to give your hands a gentle resurfacing experience inspired by time-honored Korean beauty rituals.

Inspired by a Mother’s Ritual

Growing up in Korea, my hands would get dry and cracked from spending hours outdoors. My mother had the perfect remedy — she’d soak my hands in warm water, exfoliate them with a ddeh-soo-gun (scrub towel) or pumice stone, and then seal in moisture with a thick balm under cotton gloves. By morning, my hands felt completely renewed — as if I’d been given a brand-new pair.

That memory stayed with me — and it became the inspiration for this balm. I wanted to offer that same transformation to others, reimagined for modern routines and especially focused on hands, which often show signs of aging and neglect.

Why It’s a Glow Ritual for Your Hands

The Camellia Glow Renewing Peeling Balm offers a facial care-grade treatment — especially for your hands. It gently lifts away dead skin, deeply hydrates, and leaves behind a luminous finish, just like your favorite facial exfoliator — no scrubbing tools or harsh grains required.

And while this balm is created especially for your hands, it’s safe and effective for use on elbows, shoulders, or even your face — anywhere your skin needs a little glow reset.

The Korean Bathhouse Ritual That Inspired It All

Korean bathhouse culture — known as 목욕탕 (mokyoktang) or 찜질방 (jjimjilbang) — is a cornerstone of Korean wellness. It blends hygiene, relaxation, community, and intergenerational care, often passed from mother to daughter.

The Ritual

1. Soaking
You begin with a soak in warm, mineral-rich water to soften the skin and relax the body.

2. Scrubbing (때밀이 – Ddeh-mil-i)
The core of the experience: exfoliation using a ddeh-soo-gun (scrub towel). Either self-applied or performed by a professional, it removes visible layers of dead skin with firm, rhythmic strokes — revealing fresh, glowing skin underneath.

3. Rinsing + Moisture
Afterward, skin is rinsed and massaged with balm or oil — locking in hydration and sealing the effects of the treatment.

Why It’s More Than Skincare

Korean bathhouses are places of connection and healing. Many Koreans have memories of being scrubbed by their mothers or grandmothers — a tender, intimate act of love. These rituals form the emotional and cultural foundation for products like the Camellia Glow Renewing Peeling Balm, bringing those gestures of care into daily routines.

My Glow Ritual, Now Yours

This balm isn’t just another hand product — it’s a ritual in a jar. A moment to care for yourself. A nod to where I came from. A modern way to scrub, peel, and glow — just like my mother taught me.
