Moisturize! Moisturize! Moisturize!
Cold weather is coming and we need to have extra self-care for hands, nails and cuticles. Take care of your hands and feet like you do for your face! It's time for heavy skin care for your hands! JINsoon Honeysuckle + Primrose Cuticle Oil and Argan + Rose Hand Cream will cure your dry hands and brittle nails. Here are Q & As from interviews I have done with magazines and digital media in the past, and as you see, the solutions all come down to one ultimate answer - moisturizing!
My hands are so dry at this time of year; what should I do?
- Implement a daily hand and nail care regime: Apply JINsoon Argan + Rose Hand Cream after you wash your hands daily. When rubbing it on your hands, make sure you rub it on your nails and cuticles as well - this will strengthen and promote healthy nails.
- Hand and nail repair for deep hydrating: The first and key thing to keep your hands soft in cold weather is to moisturize your hands and feet as often as possible - apply JINsoon Honeysuckle + Prim Rose Cuticle Oil and then apply Argan + Rose Hand Cream for deeper remedying. For deep hydrating and instant results, use additional care methods such as scrubbing and masks. Make sure to avoid exposing your hands in cold temperatures; wear gloves when you go out and do dishes, and as always, heavy moisturizing must be done.
How can you combat splitting and chipped nails in the cold and dry air?
It's all about heavy moisturizing and protecting your hands by wearing gloves and limiting your exposure to cold air. Also wear gloves while doing dishes and cleaning.
What are signs of unhealthy nails? What can be done to treat them?
Dry, flaky, and ridged nails? The best thing we can do is moisturize as often as possible. Use a cuticle oil on nail beds, hand masks, paraffin hydrating treatment or use mother’s old method like putting heavy duty hand cream with oil and wear cotton gloves while sleeping.
How do you suggest that people do some needed hand and nail repair, and might it include the use of gloves for deep moisturizing?
This is the perfect time for people to start a heavy moisturizing regimen. There is no better way to lock in moisturizer than to wear gloves after applying moisturizer since you are most likely spending a good amount of time wearing gloves anyway. This is something I learned from my mother when I was growing up in South Korea.
What should you do after the polish is off to "rehab" or take care of your nails?
Major moisturizing is needed - soak your fingernails in a warm lotion immersed with Vitamin E oil or have a hand mask for rehab and use JINsoon Honeysuckle + Primrose cuticle oil as often as possible. If you have time to go to one of the JINsoon salons, get a paraffin treatment for instant recovery.
What’s the best way to keep your nails and hands moisturized?
A foolproof way to lock in moisturizer is to scrub your hands, apply a thick hand cream, and wear cotton gloves overnight. If you do this for several consecutive nights, you will notice a marked improvement in your skin. The only shortcoming to this approach is that it is a pretty big inconvenience, but the effort is well worthwhile.
How can you fix the white discoloration that happens in the winter after you’ve kept the nail polish on for too long and dried out the nails?
Make sure to apply cuticle oil on discolored nails and be sure to remove your polish after one week because if it is left on for much longer, it causes discoloration from the color pigment and the dehydrated nails.
What are your recommendations for treating brittle nails?
The most important thing is to moisturize your nails with cuticle oil, and to take breaks from using nail polish. Wear gloves in cold weather and while washing dishes. I also recommend getting an intensive paraffin hand treatment from time to time, or apply oil and a heavy cuticle balm to your hands while wearing cotton gloves overnight - repeat this until your nails are cured.
Jin's Mother's Method
"When I was growing up in South Korea I spent a lot of time outdoors, so to keep my hands looking young and feminine, my mother would have me apply a thick layer of heavy hand cream and wear cotton gloves overnight to help it penetrate into my skin. The next day my hands were fully rejuvenated!
To this day, I still use my mother’s method whenever my hands are severely dehydrated."
